Valley Hotel in Palmer, Alaska Installs Complete Odyssey Suite

 
 
 Palmer, Alaska is a quiet town located just 42 miles northeast of Anchorage, which draws visitors from around the world to explore the area attractions. While in Palmer, you can visit the Hatcher Pass Recreation Area, explore Independence Gold Mine State Park, hike countless trails on the spectacular Matanuska Glacier, picnic beside a rushing river and stay at the Valley Hotel, owned and operated by Michelle Kincaid and David Kloep.

In late May of 2003, Gary Lucas, Director of Customer Support at Comtrex, spent a busy week in Palmer, installing a complete Odyssey software system, operating on seven 15" LCD Vision Series terminals, along with a Dell BackOffice Server at the Valley Hotel. The installation includes Internet credit card authorization, through Mercury Payment, and interactive charge posting to the hotel's RoomMaster property management system, from InnQuest Software. In addition to the restaurant and lounge, the property houses a retail liquor store, where close to 1,000 items are scanned using through the Odyssey POS/2100 software.

The Odyssey system replaced a Comtrex SuperSprint system, originally installed almost ten years ago. When it came time to review a potential technology update, Michelle contacted Comtrex based on the exceptionally reliable operation of her Comtrex system. After a thorough review of available systems, Comtrex received the "go ahead". The new system was fully operational within the first three days of the installation process, followed by another three days of on-site training and custom implementation. In discussing her new Odyssey system, Michelle commented "We contacted Comtrex because of our requirement for a user-friendly system that we can maintain ourselves.
