Saladworks Selects Comtrex as Preferred Solutions Provider

 
 
 MOORESTOWN, NJ, March 8, 2004 -- From flavorful salads to freshly sautéed pastas and a line-up of signature sandwiches, Saladworks has grown to over fifty locations by providing customers healthier and lighter meals, without giving up flavor or convenience. Saladworks has recently designated Comtrex Systems Corporation as the preferred solutions provider for point-of-sale and information systems for its network of franchisees.

Beginning in early 2003, Comtrex worked closely with Saladworks to tailor its Odyssey BackOffice suite and POS/2100 software to the needs of Saladworks franchisees. The system provides efficient order entry for both counter service and phone orders on 15" LCD touch-entry screens, while providing full detail inventory information, labor analysis and simplified general ledger integration in the back office.

Next up for Saladworks and Comtrex is the implementation of WiFi, through an Internet Hotspot Gateway, in selected locations to allow patrons wireless access to the Internet while dining at Saladworks. Customers will share the same high-speed connection used by the point-of-sale for five second credit card authorization and daily data transmission to an ftp site, while maintaining absolute security of the in-store network.

A key factor for Saladworks in the decision process in selecting Comtrex was the ready availability of hourly sales and daily financial reporting, along with complete product mix information and food costing, for both corporate personnel and individual franchisees. This information is transmitted daily from each location and hosted in a central SQL Server data warehouse, with accessibility over the web from any location in the world. Already operational in four locations since the beginning of 2004, the information provided by the Comtrex system is allowing Saladworks to made informed decisions aimed at improving operations and stimulating growth.

Anthony Scardapane, Vice President of MIS with Saladworks, recently shared some of the results of the new information system with Comtrex President and CEO Jeff Rice.

Jeff:

Today there was an important meeting with our marketing company here at Saladworks. Our President, Tom Romano, wondered how we could track the $1.00 coupon usage. I mentioned that we could look at the usage on the Comtrex machines. When I produced that report, you would have thought it was the Fourth of July in here! Until that moment, Tom never realized what powerful data we had at our fingertips. He asked for more reports and things just got better.
