Pay at the Table with Chip & PIN from Comtrex and Commidea
MOORESTOWN, NJ, March 10, 2005 -- Comtrex is pleased to announce that its Odyssey 2100 product is one of the first systems to completely integrate Chip & PIN technology, on both a wireless and fixed station basis, into a complete POS system. Through an integration with the Commidea Ocius Chip & PIN solution, the Odyssey Software Suite from Comtrex has received full generic approval with all UK banks. There is no further requirement for testing or bank approval at any customer sites in which Comtrex installs the Ocius solution in conjunction with its point-of-sale systems.
The Comtrex Odyssey POS terminals automatically send transactions to Commidea software executing on the POS BackOffice Server for verification. The waiter or waitress then carries a wireless Verifone terminal to the table. The Verifone terminal is displaying the guest check number and the amount due sent by the Odyssey point-of-sale through Commidea. Customers swipe their own card, enter any applicable tip and then sign a voucher printed by the handheld terminal. The payment method and the total amount, including the tip, is then transferred back to the Comtrex system for proper accounting and the guest check is automatically closed.
The integrated Comtrex and Commidea system allows for partial payments to be made using multiple credit cards where patrons are splitting the payment. There is an alternative mode of operation for counter service, without a tip entry and using a terminal directly connected to the BackOffice Server. The interactive and seamless nature of the interface remains the same.
Commidea is the UK’s leading developer and provider of debit and credit card payment processing systems and services, providing systems for virtually every working environment including high street retail, e-commerce, mail order, telesales, memberships and hotels, leisure and hospitality.
