Announcing a new release
The new Windows-driven Odyssey software has all the reliability which has made the company’s POS systems a preferred industry choice, while offering unique new features which push back the boundaries to offer greater flexibility in use and provide maximum revenue control.
The new software was designed to run with Comtrex Systems’ latest Odyssey iTP Terminal, although it will also work with earlier models (Comtrex offers an upgrade service for existing customers). The Odyssey iTP terminal, available in silver or anodized black to complement any décor, is a deceptively compact and elegant unit engineered in cast aluminum to withstand the everyday knocks of the food service environment.
Extremely simple to use, the Odyssey ‘All in One’ front of house system enables service staff at a touch to perform operations such as setting up multiple bills per table, merging tables and to share the cost of menu items, such as wine, between customers in a party. The software allows for unlimited menu levels and up to six price bands and will highlight menu items where stock is low, as well as offering other useful features such as recipe help files.
A big advantage of the newest Windows version of Odyssey’s front of house software is that every aspect of the display can be customized by users with extreme ease. This means restaurants can set up display and selection options to reflect their customer profile and operating procedures, down to the inclusion of product ‘brands’ and company logos.
Running on an 850MHZ Intel Celeron processor with 40 gigabyte hard drive, the new Odyssey system provides fast data entry and excellent response times, critical in peak periods.
Secure access is ensured with individual sign-on to workstations via a magnetic card reader or secret number, which uniquely also allows the user to choose the language they work in – a feature designed specifically to cater for restaurants employing non-English speakers. The same system also allows managers to assign service areas and access levels to staff members, which are activated at log-in to provide added protection.
Also displayed at log-in is a message board, which allows managers to leave messages for individual employees.
The new software both complements and is totally compatible with Odyssey MWS, Comtrex Systems’ recently-introduced Back Office Suite, which includes detailed sales reporting, comprehensive stock control, full funds and labor management as well as charge accounts.
Explains Steven Roberts, Comtrex’s Managing Director:
“This is an exciting time for Comtrex. The introduction of the enhanced Windows-based Odyssey front of house software is the culmination of an intense period of development for the company and completes the Odyssey range. The Comtrex name is synonymous with reliability and quality and we didn’t want to lose that.
“At the same time, we wanted to make a real contribution to good practice and increased efficiency in restaurant and fast food management in upgrading our existing POS systems and I think we have done that. The new Odyssey range brings to market features no other software systems can offer, the result of the application of over 20 years’ experience in this sector, combined with advanced programming. Better than ever accuracy in reporting will assist our customers to achieve total revenue control with increased operating efficiencies, while allowing them to create a more personal dining experience for their clientele.”
