Comtrex teams up with ezUniverse. Its as easy as ezConnect!
MOORESTOWN, NJ, March 8, 2006 -- Comtrex is pleased to announce that its Odyssey point-of-sale software product is the first to completely integrate with the ezConnect system through XML and ftp technology for both counter and table service applications. The initial system has now been operational at the corporate Saladworks location in Conshohocken, PA for over two months. Comtrex has reached an agreement to resell the integrated ezConnect system through its direct sales channels.
Designed and developed by ezUniverse, ezConnect is more than a security system. ezConnect builds an information network which not only archives video, text and event data, but can also stream this information along with voice data, from multiple stores, in real-time directly to the customer's desktop, laptop, or palmtop. The most basic configuration incorporates in-store TCP-IP cameras for each POS terminal and others for the office, customer area, and receiving area.
Video information for the last thirty days is stored in-store on a controller, time-stamped and associated with a particular terminal or location. Text information on a transaction basis is automatically generated by the Comtrex software, streamed to a central ftp site and maintained in an SQL database by ezUniverse. ezConnect software associates the historical video and text with chosen business rules and then seamlessly merges the presentation on the viewer's PC. Other sources of historical information include motion detectors and temperature sensors and, through voice over IP, ezConnect allows interaction with local managers in real time.
Business rules isolate events of importance, occurrences the customer wants to know about, and in turn generate alerts. A business rule can be a combination of events involving multiple sources of information. For example, an alert could be generated every time the total of all voids exceeds the transaction total. The software from ezConnect stores the occurrence of these events in a central database. Alerts can also be configured to generate an e-mail or page. The business owner goes to one site and can view all alerts from all stores. Video and text associated with the event is then selected to view. Instantly on the screen the software merges the stored video from the in-store disk with the database maintained by ezUniverse.
The current implementation of the corporate Saladworks location includes seven cameras. The installation is being upgraded in March of 2006 to include a portable voice over IP headset, magnetic door sensors, temperature sensors and upgrades to an infrared technology on selected cameras to allow clear video in darkened rooms.
